weird clicking noise
my g/f has a 97 civic lx. the car has about 110,000 miles on it. it runs fine except for a lil noise when you accelerate in her car. the noise is a clicking/rattling noise when you get on the gas...any ideas on what it might be??

Re: weird clicking noise (ghettols)
Sounds like a CV joint is going bad. Do you hear the noise when turning? If it is your CV joints it's easier to just replace the entire axel then replace the boot and repack them with grease. You can get remanufactured axels at places like AutoZone wich require a core charge. This just means you give them your old axels once you replaced them with the new ones. Otherwise you have to pay full price.

Re: weird clicking noise (boondox_saint)
the noise doesn't necessarily occur when i turn...when i'm anywhere at a dead stop, i press on the gas and that annoying rattling sound starts...sorry about that guys...i shouldn't have said clicking cause i know when the cv boots go out...it probably needs a good valve adjustment too...i was just wondering if anybody had this same experience

No problem. It's hard to explain things sometimes. You may need a valve adjustment like you mentioned. But don't expect the ticking to completely vanish, they all tick a little.

I have somewhat the same problem on my Civic.. If I stop, then let on the gas slowly, theres a ticking sound (usually only one tick) that seems to come from the driver's side area of the front of the car.. Not sure what it is yet..

Re: (civic-4-ges)
i think you shoudl try tightening your lugs. ive had it happen to my car, my brothers car. it only happens when i accelerate. last time this happened to me, i checked it. i noticed that only 1 lug was tight . so i would just look into tighting all your lugs before you can think anything esle. it was just a thought.

i had a ticking noise when i accelerated so i took it to my friend who works at honda and he seen that there was a lot of dirt on my belt so he cleaned it off with a wire brush and the ticking went away...if thats the problem than do it if not then it might be somethin else with the exhaust or internal shiet!!
