Default backfire, slight bucking in b16

I just did a b16 swap and it turned out the ecu was bad, but I got a new one and the vtec solenoid code went away, but one problem stayed. At any type of throttle, the engine bucks a little and it even backfired when I got on it. We changed the cap and rotor, plugs, and wires when we did the swap. The valves were also adjusted and the timing was set. I was wondering if it was timing(?) The idle is ok, but a little shaky and it shot up to 1500 rpms once at idle. What do you guys think the problem could be. I'm no mechanic, so any help is appreciated. The guy that did the work is looking at it tomorrow, hopefully it's as simple as timing...Thanks
oh...and the ecu is a chipped pm6 by zdyne for a b16 obd0

Try unplugging both the O2 sensors and leave them unplugged and drive around. It won't cause any problems, so don't worry about it. Just see if that helps for now.

are you suggesting that the o2 sensor is bad?

There is that potential, yes, but what happened in my B16A is that the primary and secondary O2 sensors were reversed. Thus the ECU would lean out #3 & 4 cyls while reading the output for the #1 and #2 cyls, and keep leaning it out until detonation because it was still reading rich. It does this because the PR3 ECU tunes via the primary O2 sensor first and then reverts to the secondary O2 sensor. I'm not saying that's what's happening with yours but it's a start.

check the timing belt to see if TDC lines up and make sure the spark plug wires are in correct firing order.
