Default b20Z vs B18B block

Aside from the 84 bore and slightly higher compression for the CRV motors is there any other difference between the B20Z and B18B blocks? If I resleeve a LS block to 84 will I have the same displacement and make the same tq as the B20?

I'm no expert but I know that the b20z is the ultimate block for the frank motor. The b20 already has durable sleeves, not needing much more. Im not sure about the displacement, but if you have the choice go eith the b20... visit crvtec.com

Personally, I'd sleeve a B18B block to 84.5mm. This is what I'm doing as we speak. But then again I believe in "overkill" and I'm boosting this engine anyways.
Why I'm doing it this way:
1. I can find B18B blocks for "practically free" or minimal money
2. I will have a stronger block in the long run
3. It will apear to be a 1.8L from the outside
4. I wanna go the extra mile compared to others around me (mid-west)

good luck

I agree with SLPR, resleeve the B18 to 84.5mm then go with some Endyn Rollerwaves. I really think that the B20 has the weakest sleeves that Honda makes stock.

The only external differences between the two is the absence of a crankcase breather on the back of the B20Z block and the actual number. Otherwise they look the same. And if you resleeve a B18B block to 84mm, it will have the same displacement.

That is not really true, those B20 sleeves are stronger than other Honda oem sleeves. Just not as strong as some people hope they are.

And I don't like using oem breathers anyways, so I always install a breather with external catch can. (CUSCO, SRR, Endyn)

the sleeve design on the b20z is more built for the bigger bore and sturdier, so if you're goign all motor you'd be wasting money sleeving to do the same displacement the b20z will offer, but if you're boosting then sleeving is the way out for ht eb18a/b ... I generally bore the b20 blocks to 84.5 for customers running all motor ... but I sleeve the b18 for them when they boost or run full bred race motors.

the other pro ont he b20z block is the knock sensor which is not on the b18a/b
