Default B20VTEC - LS tranny

Will I fall out of VTEC during shifts if I get a LS Tranny? I have been unable to find a VTEC Tranny...

unless youre gonna be boosting dont go ls tranny. the gsr is built stronger and much better for NA, at least get the gsr, but b16/type r are even closer. type r would be great, LSD would be nice. but no FI stay far away from the ls.

You dont want to use an LS tranny.
Give Upgrade a call and talk to Tim. He has some tranny's at a good price.

Yeah I am going NA. But I am on the east coast so GSR & Type R trannys are extremely over priced. Thanks for the suggestions

4.7 or 4.9 final gear or even 5.0.
if u big fan of autox go with 4.9-5.0
but daily.. 4.7 that's all you need..
and + LSD too..

I can tell you this. The LS tranny is NOT as bad as people claim it to be.

I'm running a GSR block, with LS tranny. Sure it's not AS fast as a GSR, but there are definate upsides to a LS tranny.

1) I get 30MPG on a built block
2) At 85MPH, I'm at 3500 RPM. Great for long trips
3) Accelleration in 3rd gear is INSANE. 8500 RPM = 110MPH on 205/50/15's.

If this is going to be a "Track only" car, then by all means, get a shorter ratio tranny with a larger FD. But if it's a dual purpose, you may want to look into a LS tranny.

Just my .02 on the matter.

becuase you shift @ 9k! w/ a 8200 rev limiter you will fall out of vtec. the gsr/b16 is worth the extra money just for this reason and they also will take more abuse/fast shifting.

Has anyone put a GSR or JDM final drive in an LS tranny before? How is it? How much did you improve on your e.t.
