b20b 2 layers head gasket
***** sorry for the english, I am french canadian *****
hello,
Last summer, I swaped a JDM B20B on my teg and the performance ok for that kind of motor with LS tranny. But I "hydroloc" that engine. I swapped another B20B in the teg, but the performance is not the same at all.
By some search, I find that my old B20B have a 2 layer head gasket(9.2:1 comp) and my new have 3 layer head gasket (8.8:1 comp).
Can I just take the head gasket of the old engine and put it on the new?? or Where can I buy a 2 layer head gasket (I don't know the part number) ??
Tanks a lot
and sorry again for the english

hey there fellow canadian
there are 2 different versions of the B20
the 97-98 B20B has 8.8:1CR
the 99-00 B20Z has 9.6:1CR
and the main differences are the pistons not the head-gasket.
the only way your going to get that 8.8:1 to perform close to the 9.6:1 is by milling the cylinder head along with a thinner head-gasket. but i would not recommend milling the head to increase the compression that much.
stick with what you have and be happy with it or tear it down and buy some nice aftermarket pistons with about 11:1CR.
good luck
