Default B20 rod angle??

one of my friends owns a shop in arizona and he says that the B20b motor has a different rod angle than the B18a. he states that the angle is wrong and thats why everyone blows up their crvtec motors. my other friend in california, whos worked on hondas also for about ten years, says that the b18 and b20 have the same rod angle. but they blow up because the space for the valves on the piston is smaller than the vtec valves.does anybody know if the rod angles are different???i rev mine to 8000 rpm every day with no problems for months. thanks in advance.sorry if this is a repost. i used the seach feature.

the rod angle (rod to stroke ratio) between the B18A/B and B20 are exactly the same.

your friend must have them confused with the B18C VTEC engine.

and the only reason people blow them up is because they don't build up the bottom end to take that extra RPM. the B18B or B20 were never designed to rev over 7000rpm so there is extra stress on the rods which causes engine failure. the stock rods found in the B18A/B and B20 are pretty weak when compared to the VTEC rods.

with a good set of rods and new bearings properly measured and installed the engine can safely do 8500rpm+

good luck
