Default B20 burning oil

I have a b20 non vtec. It's burning oil. Did a compression test and all cylinders came out to 209 210 208 209. It only smokes when I get on the gas, the higher I rev the more smoke. The only reason I can think of is my pcv setup. I have stock pcv set up, just off value cover. No pcv on block.

It's blue, I know I'm not burning coolant, just oil

Id try a piston soak with the snake oil of your choice. I like BG stuff myself. Sometimes the solvent will free up the stuck rings and let the oil rings do their job better.

Valve stem seals might be going. How many miles are on your engine?

Higher revs and smoking increases is usually ring related.

Can it be just oil retaining rings that are bad? The compression test is fine so I didn't think the rings had anything to do with it

I don't know how many miles on engine, just swapped it, had a problem with timing being off bad, fix that and it's been running fine, no lose of power, just smokes like crazy, just by pulling the car in my garage, the whole garage is filled with smoke

Oil control rings do nothing for compression. They only control oil. They are probably just sticking a little bit in the ringlands.
If you have excessive blowby, then the top/2nd rings might have issues.

UMMMMMMM?

Engine Piston Ring Basics | How Piston Rings Work | Car Automotive.

Piston rings are made to maintain the cylinder and combustion pressure of the automobile. They prevent any oil from seeping into the combustion chamber as well as sealing in the air and fuel to be able to compress them. There are typically three piston rings to every piston, and each one of these rings does different things to help the engine operate.

run some seafoam through it and see what happens (change the oil of course).

im starting to find that when these things smoke with good compression the oil control rings are gummed up and basically let the oil get past them since they are full of gunk. the second possibility is that valveseals are leaking oil into the cyl, and with the added heat of high load its burning off

The link basically states what I posted. Did I say something incorrect? Top rings control compression and the oil rings control how much oil gets into the combustion chamber.
Would compression test numbers change if you removed the oil control rings entirely? Very little if any. If you notice, the oil control rings are very low tension unlike the compression rings. Each ring has a specific job. If you have low compression, the oil rings are probably fine since they are not there to produce compression. The compression rings sole purpose is to seal up compression however if the compression rings are leaking, it can and most likely will burn oil also.

This is what I have seen too over the years. Not just Hondas.

Should I use spray seafoam in the intake or pour it straight in the cylinder????

Smoking like crazy = rings are probably shot.
I'd do a leakdown test and see how much your compression rings are leaking. If there's little to no pressure loss past the rings, I'd try the piston soak again and try to unstick your oil rings. But the way your describing the heavy smoking, it doesnt sound good.

Two things, one, this thread really doesn't belong in the machining section so I will move it to the misc/tech section.

Second, you can have a ring problem and still get good compression numbers on your compression test. The oil helps seal up the rings for the test but also causes some pretty decent smoking in the high RPM range.

One of my cylinders is like this. An easy way to identify it is to pull your spark plugs, and pull your distributor wire harness plugs (I also like to pull my injector wire harness plugs but have been told it's not necessary) and look down into the cylinders. See if you see oil wetness witting around the outside edge of the top of any pistons. If all four are dry, hop in the car and crank the motor over for about 20 seconds and reinspect. You will likely find one or two cylinders the oil is getting by the rings and filling the piston to wall clearance area with oil.
