b18c5 problems

Default b18c5 problems

well get this my brother has a 97 hatchback civic and we installed the type r engine into his car. everything runs fine at the track 14.10in the quatermile. but on the high way one he hits 190km the car just doesnt want to go anymore. like theres no cut off untill 247km and theres still plenty of rpm left. maybe someone on this site has had this problem before

if your using a stock ECU thats probably your problem, your motor is Governed meaning that its limited at 190kph which is about 118mph which sounds about right for a limit.

well my last type r swap cut out at 247kph thats when my limiter went on. but i know for sure its not a govener. when the govener goes on you feel it cut off. this is the faster you go it just doesnt want to pull

I'd say get a chip because it's probably the fuel cut off.

If it is a JDM swap and you are using the JDM R ECU, it is definitely the governor.

As far as a chip for OBDII, I think it would be easier to get an OBDI comp., chip it (jdmhondaparts.com offers this service), and then get the OBDI to OBDII harness.

Just one thought.
