Default b18b1 coolant leak

car sat for 3 days and there was a puddle of coolant from under the oil pan, traced the leaking area to under the alternator, no coolant in oil and have done a hydrocarbon test and it came up negative (tested for cracked head gasket cause my car idle hunts on cold start)

drove the car to see if I could finda leak. ran fine, but later when I started it, it ran for like 30 sec than died

didn't see any more spray under the alternator

could it be my water pump? any ideas welcome

I've had a hairline crack in a radiator before. Coolant would slowly leak out and evaporate. That's why I didn't notice it. I had to keep filling it with coolant. It ran fine. One day I finally blew a HG.

Water pump has a weep plug on it that occasionally fails. Start there.

Also, this question is not engine management related. Please move it to the model specific or general tech forum.
