B18 Timing belt gear issue
Hi, I was wondering if anyone could tell me if the B18 , B20, & B16 timing belt gear that goes on the crank are the same or what exactly is different? My motor barley runs unless I take the bolts out of the distributor and advance it sevearly. My 'UP' marks seem to line up evertime around although the seem to point just a little twords the exhaust side.. I had 3 different gears from those 3 motors when I put it together and then later found the 100% correct b18 gear after I had it in the car already wich makes me think that one of the others is effecting the timing?!?! any help would be great!
Also if anyone knew wich alt belt to use with running a B20 crank pully with a d series alt. The LS is to short and the B20 is to long. I cut 1 rib off the outside also to conform to the d series 3 ribs rather than the 4 ribs of the b series.. my buddy had been running like this for along time but had a b16 so Im assuming the pully was a different size and thats why he couldnt tell me. thanks alot!

head was milled and block was decked.. I found out all B series gears are the same.. I dont belive my belt is wrong, everytime I turn it over the marks on the cam gears and pully lines up
well if the head was milled and the block was decked, the distance changes from the cam gears to the crank gear, and likely what is causing it to be slightly off...you could probably just get some adjustable cam gears to correct it.
