B17a vs B18C1
Ok i potentially have an opportunity to grab up an b17a with a 2000 itr tranny. My question is what are the differences between the 2 engines besides rods and crank? Besides that they appear to be identical.. Can anyone fill me in? I would liek to grab this ddeal and just swap in a c1 crankand rods for the displacement.

The B17A is basically a stroked B16, it also has a B16 (PR3) head. A B18C1 has a taller deck height, a different head casting (P72), and much more potential. There has been a lot of debate as to which head flows better. You cannot use a B18C crank and rods in a B17/B16 block.
I see thanks for your response... I didnt think about it that way i was basically thinking a destroked b18. That sucks i really wanted to scoop this deal up for the tranny but idk if its worth it IM kinda opting for a b18 platform...
why wouldn't you still get the deal? I think you are confused... this isn't a b18a, it's a b18c5... completely different beast. The Type R head and the pr3 b16/17 heads are very closely related... the b18c1 head is different, that's a second gen GSR head.
I re read your post, you want to add c1 internals into a 17a block? not gonna happen, there's 10mm deck height difference between the two engines, though you could add the 17a crank to the c1 block for a turbo option
