Default b16A2 PnP

Im from Queens, New York and my question is, what is the current going rate for a Port and Polish on a B16A2 VTEC head? this one shop quoted me $900 as the "shop discount," $1100 is the retail price.

$900 just for the port and polish. supposedly he uses a flow bench.
he wants $450 for a 3-angle valve job and $500 for a 5-angle job.

lol, for that much you can send the head to the best porters out there.
that price is crazy.
for the price of the valve job they should own a serdi machine...

i would send my head somewhere else.

ya i was thinking thats way too much. the total came to $1800 for just the head work with new valves. then you have to add about $1400 for new retainers, springs, and cams. then some money for labor.

^^ now that i think about it, for that price on a b16 head, i cud buy a b18c1, h22a, or save up some more and get a b18c5. for overpriced labor.

I don't know what the rates in NY are but I'm from Philly and I get 900.00 for a full port w/valve job,and Dave Localio/Head Games is in Ewing NJ and is about the same.I don't know why the last guy wanted more money for a 5 angle vs 4 angle they are cut on the machine at the same time it takes no longer.Besides I can't see how they are putting 5 angles on a stock size valve or .5mm over either, unless they are very thin,I just did a 34mm valve job and was able to get 5 good angles but 33.5 idk.
