Default B16a w/ B17a Crank?

Has anyone done this. Good points and bad points to doing this setup?

I'm expecting you'll gain some displacement, but you will also change the b16s highly touted rod/stroke ratio. I don't know either of the numbers on these...

theres great advantages and of coarse disadvantages.what kinda build are u thinkn?a built b16 opposed to a ls/vtec?the b16 w/t a b17 crank would be highly more efficient than a ls/vtec(my opinion)you could bore the b16 to 86mm,already have oil squiters, the b17 crank is far more superior than a non vtec crank.u actually have more displacement than a frank, also iliminate the rod*stroke problem.only problem would be the valve to piston clearance after the boreing.other thoughts welcome

If you use the B17A crank and rods (yes, you would need these, too) with B16A pistons, you would basically have a B17A with higher compression. As for the rod ratio, it would decrease from 17.4:1 to about 1.62:1. So it would still be quite good.

Has anyone done this. Good points and bad points to doing this setup?
yes, I had this setup in my first EG civic, until it got stolen. There's not a single bad point in doing this. If you want to stroke a B16A block with B17 internals you need the crank and rods. As for pistons you can use which ever oem pistons you want, whether you go NA or turbo application.

My old setup (aka Blacksheep), was a B16A3 block, B17 internals with standard size CTR slugs, stock headgasket and 89 B16A head. I ran a Spoon intake cam and ITR exhaust cam which ran of a Skunkworks reprogrammed P28 ecu. I dynoed about 175whp and about 123ftlbs of torque. That's with the cam sprockets dialed in too. I think i coulda squeezed out some more power though...but I didnt care, it was perfectly set to my liking for road racing.

B17A1 engine came in the US 92-93 Integra GSR only. Its rated at 160hp and thats with 9.7.1 compression ratio too! heh..
