B16A cutting out
Just wanted to post something here because it took me forever to find the problem and a bunch of money
The Car: Roadrace 1985 GT Honda Civic racecar with JDM B16A with CHROME OBD1 chipped ECU.
The Problem: As the car would warm up, I would brake into the corner , plip the trottle and down shift. When I would go back to the gas there would be NOTHING. let off the gas pedal for 4-5 seconds and the car would go again for another 5-6-7 corners (whatever it felt like)
I tryed replacing the entire fuel system even though the fuel pressure guage said it was fine.
Replaced a distributor, replaced wires, replaced ECU. replaced TPS , replaced MAP sensor, replaced VSS.
Problem was still there.!!!! and NO CELL CODES being thrown
The only other thing to do was to check the VSS with a signal meter to make sure it works. We put the car on jack stands and checked the signal and it was fine however, I then wiggled the plug and found the signal would disappear.
We took the VSS plug pins out to find they were corroded and nasty looking.
New pins were installed and all is good.
Hope this may help someone.
If the car had a speedo I would have found this a whole lot faster
