b16a and b16a2 difference?
I have a 99 SI and blew a hole through one of the sleeves. I was wondering if i can use a b16a bare block to replace my b16a2. Can the b16a block convert to ODB2? Are all the sensors and components swappable from the b16a2 to the b16a? Are there enough fittings for all the sensors on the b16a? I want to keep the ODB2 on my car. I want to swap pistons also to keep the b16a2 compression. Is there something else I need to know before doing this swap? If it isn't possible to keep ODB2 then I will just buy the b16a2.

yea Im pretty sure that you can use the b16 block. You might have to use the b16a2 oil pump though becuase it has the crank angle sensor. Other wise I cant think of anything that would be different.

Re: b16a and b16a2 difference? (WCI)
The block and everything is the same, even the compression (at 10.20:1) unless you swapped JDM P30 slugs in your A2 motor... As for what you'll need to move... The first gen B16A runs it's FANC as the big 2 pin sensor on the back of the block next to the oil pressure sender... Swap over the water pipe and thermostat housing (as it has the FANC switch) from your Si motor and that covers that much... You'll also need ot move over the your A2's oil pump as it has the CKFS mounting points as WCI mentioned... The A2's CKFS sensor also has to go along with it's lower gear... Everything else is the same... Leave the FANC switch in the back of the B16A block and just don't worry about it... Hope this helps, Good Luck
