Default Getting rid of exhaust hack job

I had a muffler shop a while back(couple years ago) cut off my resonator and installed a different muffler. Now I want to remove that piece of **** and get something else, something much quieter. I spoke to a rather reputable shop near my work and they said about 150-250$ for a "cat back" exhaust, 2-2 1/2 inch with/without resonator, my choice of muffler. Now what I'm wondering is what kind of resonator and muffler I should get. I'm shooting for as close to stock quiet as I can, but don't have the 600$ for the OEM system. Suggestions?

What Kind of car? I just bought a GSR axleback, and welded it up to fit my car- Then used a donut gasket and attached it to the 2.5" flange- fit perfect- and nice and quiet- the GSR muffler is kinda big tho, so i ended up throwing a factory muffler on it- nice and quiet

Sorry...99 Si. Another thing is the pipe the other muffler shop put on the car is only 2 inch, 1 3/4 at the bends from the cat back. So I basically have to get a complete exhaust.
