Default b16 tranny...what could be wrong?!?!?!?!?

my b16 tranny has had some problems lately with popping out of third and fifth gear. todayi was driving on the freeway and was cruising in fifth gear. i let off the gas to slow down a bit and then gave it some gas to get back up to speed when suddenly my tranny fell out of fifth. i pushed the clutch in to gear the car back into fifth gear, but when i did, my rpm's went down to idle while i was IN FIFTH with the clutch out.

i pushed the clutch back in to put in in fourth because i knew my fifth might have been fucked. when i did that, my engine was still at idle. i was thinking to myself what the hell could be going on, so i put it into EVERY GEAR without the clutch in.

i know this is something serious, but i have no idea what it could be. i can move my shift know all the way around in a circle and it feels like it is in nuetral even when i push the **** up (first, third, fifth) or down (second, fourth, reverse). is this a shift linkage problem or did my tranny take a ****?

im taking it apart tomorrow to see what happened but i thought maybe someone might give me some insight.

Sounds like shift linkage.
