Hey, my friend and I have been arguing a lot lately about the potential of a N/A B16, and I was seeing if anyone had any opinions on it. He says it is simply impossible to get a B16 to 240 hp at the wheels N/A without stroking the block. I say if that team with the crx with a N/A SOHC non vtec engine can run 10's, then a B16 can get to 240 hp N/A. So what do you guys think, or any of you have any proof for either way? Thanks.

 

well, its already hard enough for the b16 to hit 200whp all motor non stroked. I am gonna go out on a limb and say that its pretty much not gonnaa happen with the 240whp. Hardcore modded b18c's hit 210-220, so b16 isnt gonna cut it. Sorry as much as I love the b16's they just cant do that much hp in stock bore and stroke.

 

The only thing i can think of is a gsr, ls, or b20 block under that head. b16 n/a as is would be good for 220 heavily modded (streetable), if this is a track car up the compression to run on race gas and some S2S3 camshafts.

240whp is probably not realistic. Put in a b17 crank & rods, sleeve it to 86mm, raise compression to 12.5:1, add some agressive bump sticks, and tune it properly and you can probably shock allot of people that think the b16 is a toy, but I suspect you'd top out around 210-220ish.
