Default B16 engine swap problem...Please help!

just bought the car and it seems too not be running right.First off the car is a complete dog....i know i know b16 no torque, but i have driven b16's and they have more torque then this, this hardly can make it up hills. The car is always backfiring through the exhaust and through the intake, the map sensor isnt secured tightly and we can move it around and it affects performance but does not fix the problem. There is a code but only when the car is on,when you turn the car off it does not stay on(i believe its a crank sensor)Vtec engages around 6k all though no real power until 7500.We did a compression test and got 200 across the board,i put in new sparkplugs, new rotor.I do not think its dizzy related...anyone else have any input?Im kinda beat after spending all day on it ...haha any help would be great thanks

if you have a cel then your cars probably in limp mode fix the cel then go from there.

The light doesnt have to stay on to check the code. 1st off what year is the car? If its a 88-91 Civic/Rex then the ecu LED will flash the code count. If its a 92+ Civic/Integra there is a 2 pin connector under the glove box. It usually has a green plastic cover. Remove the cover and use a piece of wire or a paper clip to jump the connector. Count the flashes and go from there. When you figure out the ecu code, do a search here for ECU codes. There IS A POST!

if it comes up as error, then the tester you are using probably isnt communicating with the ecu, you need to fix that connection first, make sure somebody didnt jimmy rig it. defianately start there. I would get a helms to help with all that crap.
