Default B16 engine build

Well this winter i am planning on doing rods and pistons in my b16, i was wondering if it is possible to do it with the motor still in the car, by pulling the head and oilpan/girdle. Any input would be appreciated thanks guys

By the time you get everything torn down, you'll basically have a bare block mounted to the chassis. It would be much easier to pull the whole engine out than do all the work while hunched over the car. I couldn't imagine having to check bearing clearances or ring gap while the engine is still sitting in the bay.
