Default B16 coolant seepage

I just changed the waterpump/timing belt/thermostat on my B16... now I'm still seeing coolant dripping from underneath the timing cover near the crank pulley! I tightened all the bolts to 9 ft-lbs on the pump, like the guide says... any ideas what I could've done wrong?

Are you sure you wiped up any residue that might have been left behind? Also, did you put some kind of water pump sealant in between the gasket?

Regards,

Oz

No, didn't use any sealant, just relied on the gasket... I tried also to wipe up the residue before installing the new pump & belt

I have installed 500+ honda waterpumps. I have never used hondabond on a w-pump. If you used a new honda pump and o-ring something is wrong with the mating surface. Any sealant is a band aid

That's what I thought... should I pull it all off again and try again? I'm going to take the cover off tomorrow and put the pulley back on, to doublecheck that is indeed the leak's source..

In case anyone's curious, I pulled the timing belt covers off today, put it back together without them, and ran it... no leakage whatsoever from any places. The water drips from before will always now be a mystery
