here's the setup i'm planning:

crvtec, type r intake manifold/ gsr intake manifold, itr exhaust manifold/ gsr, gsr tranny...

now, my question is... if you were doing this setup, would you want the b16 head or the b18? anyone have this setup?

i've done a few research on this. i just want people's opinion.

Re: b16/ b18 head... (MaliceGSR)
b16a head 5.25% better flow rate due to the bigger combusttion chamber 42.7cc's. but if you need a little more compression go with the gsr it produces .2 more compression then the b16a head due to the smaller combustion chamber.

Yeah, the B16 head will net you about a .2 point loss in compression, but it is a better flowing head as compared to the b18, and the Type R manifold bolt up will not require any modification to the B16 head. You'll definitely not want the GSR intake manifold... even the B16 manifold would be a better choice. You will want run larger injectors tho.
