b16 and b18 block from same cast?
I was wondering for the sake of an Idea, I was under the impression that if you put a b18 ls crank in a b16 block and had ls pistons/rods that it would be essentially a b18 block. Was the b16 block designed specificly for the b16 crank? I have heard of the b17 crank going in the block and stroking it that way. Would you need to do something the the ls crank to make it work in a b16?
thanks for any help

Main bearing diameter and the like are mostly standardized over the B series engine range, but deck height and bore aren't. The B16 has the shortest deck height in the B series lineup, so LS pistons and rods on that crank would be well above the deck at TDC.

you can put any B series crank in any B series block, it depends on the RODS that you use as far as whether or not you will pop the head off
b17 and b16 are from the same cast
just different crank, rods, pistons
but the deck height is taller on the b18, different motor
has different casting also, doesnt have the strong webbing thats found on the b16/17
hope this helps
