It depends on your definition of "too much stuff". While pulling a head isn't terribly difficult, it's not a 15 minute job.

what's your point? explain what you don't want to remove. to remove the head you will need to remove all the vaccum lines, valve cover, timing belt, power steering pump bracket, intake manifold and acouple of other little things.

Actually, unless you need it removed for some reason, I feel leaving the IM on is easier.

True, but he did say that he didn't want to remove "too much stuff".

You have to drain coolant and oil as well.

You don't have to drain the oil. It goes down to the oil pan. You only have to drain a little coolant.

You dont have to remove the timing belt, you can (ghetto alert) just undo the bolts holding the cams in and tilt them off to one side.

i would drain some coolant out(save it to re-use if its still good)then unbolt the intake manifold but just push it out of the way(that way you dont have to remove the fuel lines)then ya i dont know about the removing the cam way,but you will probably have to remove the timing belt..then disconnect the bottom part of the headers(just under the 2 o2 sensors if you have the factory headers)..let me know if you peeps think this technique will work ok?

try it

Its not removing the timing belt since its still wrapped around the crank at the bottom of the block.
I suppose if you wanted to be really daft, you could just undo the bolts holding the cam gears on and then ......

That's what I did...just taped the cam gears to the timing belt to hold them in place and unbolted them from the cams. It just seemed logical when I was doing it...
