Default b seriers blocks

what are the differences?
b16a first gen
b16a sir II
b16a2 (99 up si's usually del slows too)
b18a
b18b
b18c
b18c5
b20z
b20b

are all the blocks the same? is the bore the same on all and just the stroke change?
are all bolt locations the same?

i know certian sensors won't be there like knock and crank fluctuating (99 ups)

thanks
chad

ok, mechanically here's the differences..

JDM 89-91 B16A (cable type) = 10.2 cr. The PR3 piston is lower comp. than the newer JDM 92+ B16A.

JDM 92-01 B16A (hydro type) = 10.4cr. The P30 piston is higer comp. because of the higher dome'd piston than a PR3 piston.

US 93+ B16A all use a JDM PR3/10.2 c.r. piston, even the Si coupe.

Cam profiles on the 89-91 b16a are pretty weak. the 92+ B16A or 94+ GSR cams are better to use ...or..of course you can go R cams to make more power.

..i'm not gonna even mention jiggedy jack **** about the B18/LS engines. Not worth my time.

JDM B18C/SiR-G (180hp non-R engine) has changed pistons as well and is rated at is 10.6 cr.
US B18C1 (170hp) has flat pistons and is rated at 10.0 cr.
The head, and all other B18C/P72 mechanical parts are all basically the same.
Although the JDM B18C/SiR-G ECU sucks ***...you're bettter off using a US GSR ECU on this engine.

JDM ITR engine also has a better/higher compression piston vs. the US ITR engine.
11.0= JDM ITR piston
10.6=US ITR pistons
camshafts are identical- but in 00 the profile changed to that of CTR cam specs for both US and JDM version. JDM ITR ECU sucks too, US one is better.

B20....i'm outta breath right now....get back to you on that....

he JDM 89-91 B16A engine has a lower compression (10.2) than any 92+ JDM B16A (10.4) and that is because of the PR3 piston dome.

All JDM 92+ B16A's have the same P30/10.4 piston.

b18c has a higher deck height then the b16's.

b18b, b20b/z don't have piston oil squirters, VTEC engines do(except for the D series.

yes, all bolt holes are the same as far as the block goes. That's why you can bolt in any year B series block into a 92+ civic with the use of integra mounts.

We are all forgetting one thing that I didn't see mentioned in this post.....the B20 blocks come with an 84mm bore. They are an LS engine with a larger bore......
