Default B&M short shifter Question

I just put in a B&M short shifter in my 99 Si. However, i'm not really happy with it. I wanted to know if I even got the right one. The shifts are definately shorter however the shifter sits much further forward than stock. When it's in neutral, it looks like its in 3rd gear, and when its in 4th gear it looks like neutral. Now, i know for a fact it was installed right, cuz i even reversed it to see if it would make a difference. I wanted to know if anyone else had this problem. I found it also kind of weird that the shifter is straight, no bends. Obviously if it had the bends, it would sit further back like the stock one, where i think it should be. Also, the box and everything says it was made for my car, but i disagree. Does anyone have anyother short shifters that they're happy with? I'll probably be getting rid of this one soon.

A long time ago a friend of mine bought one for me at AutoZone and it was great. I sold it with my EG, but the one I have now is pretty good, I don't know what it is though.

Yeap, that is how mine is.... you'll get used to it. Just give it a week, then if you don't like it switch it back, (but you wont want to)

I have one in my eg and I love it. It straight though and doesnt have a bend in it so maybe thats why it seems different to you.

The b&m provides the best feeling shifts out there, however the straight design is awkward. I am 6'1 and sit far back, and when I had the shifter, I would have to use my fingers to get it into 3rd, as my palm couldnt reach, and I would miss 3rd alot.

u like it with out the bushings? i would suggest maybe getting some, makes it nice and stiff, and im 5'9 so maybe thats why i dont have to reach for my shifter that much...

that was my problem so i switched to a stock gsr shifter on my civic. i was sick of always having to reach for the shifter.

I've got the B&M on a 2000 Si transmission, it is rather unforgiving. I may switch to a skunk2 in a few weeks. Or, just switch over to Energy Suspension Shifter Bushings (i have no clue what bushings are in there).

If you get the b&m bushing kit the stabilizer bushing is adjustable so that you can change how far forward your shifter sits.
