Default axle seal

went to install a new axle seal on the driver side of my 92 GS-R transmission because the old one blew out and dumped all the fluid out very quickly. Well I take the int shaft out, put the new seal in, I used a screwdriver to gently push it in a little bit pushing a little on each side until it was even and I cleaned the area with some brake cleaner. Well I put everything back together and the car is dripping fluid out the seal. WTF?! Did I do something wrong, how are you supposed to install the seal? It felt like it pushed in all the way. This really sucks. Any suggestions?

I've damaged a few new seals before during installation, but also make sure you've got the correct seal. When I put a new clutch in my GSR I replaced the axle seals while it was out, and it turned out the driver's side seal was incorrect, the inside diameter was slightly larger than the axle seal surface, and it leaked like a *****. Replace it again, making sure it fits correctly on the axle, and drive it in with either a seal driver or a properly sized socket or piece of pipe or whatnot.
