I have a 2001 Civic EX and when I took the axle off the other day the threads for the axle nut were flattened. It was so hard to take off and then I realized that I was taking off threads. The car hit a curb on that side so I'm thinking that is what caused the axle nut to strip the threads. Anyways, what are my options? I can't force a new axle nut on there and I dont want to buy a new axle (300 from honda). Nobody carries axles yet for 7th gen civics because they are too new. I need help.

you can try rethreading the axle, however, may not have much success. Hard to say at this point. May just have to grin and bear it and shell out $$ for new axle. Is there any other damage to suspension? Would insurance company help?

 

No other damage to the axle. I would really like to get it rethreaded because auto parts stores dont even carry 01 + axles. Honda wants 300 for it. If it cant be rethreaded I'm going to call raxles.com. Thanks for your help.
