Default Axel problems

My friends was trying to replace in axel and ended up messing it up now he's asked me for help but I'm not sure what to do. He removed the old axel no problems but he rushed putting the new one in and did both to match it up to the old one. well it turns out it's the wrong axel that where the problem comes in he can't get it back out the thing it bound in there. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

How is it bound in there? Use a crowbar and/or hammer. Pry, tap, hammer, jiggle, yank.

dont they make a special puller? a slide hammer type? check out autozone, ask them what other tools they have besides the pry bar; I believe they might have it.

even if they did it would be a wate of money, Using a crow bar or pickle fork would be cheap and effective if your carefu. Well at least that's how I always take my axelsl

tried for 2 to 3 hours with both a pickle fork and pry bars. That thing is in there good. it also makes a clicking noise when he drove the car to test it. The wheel is also wobbly. I replaced the bearing to try and fix that but it didn't help. I think he messed it up good. He should have waited for me to help him as he likes to rush things.

If your friend is lucky enough to have a limited slip differential, you can remove the axle from the opposite side and drive out the stuck axle with a long punch and big hammer. This will only work on trans with lsd as there is a hole through the center of the differential allowing you to do this. It seems to me the the lsd trannys have a tendency to have this problem of the axle getting stuck more often than the non-lsd trannys.
