Awd ek hatch?
Hey everyone, ive been doing research and sifting through various diy's and write ups. Just wanted to be clear and direct with this, because ive seen many people use other cars in conjunction with awd cr-v stuff.
Is it possible to do this awd conversion with only a 99-00 crv hardware/equipment? I have one at my disposal and I wouldnt mind doing a sick build. If anyone here has/had experience with this lmk. Looking for some solid advice. Also planning on going b20 in the hatch currently has the stock d16y7. I have knowledge about needing all b series stuff to work with it, im really just wanting to know about the hardware to convert to awd.
Cheers,

Cheers,
Research is your friend. There are some very good write-ups on converting a Civic to AWD with CR-V parts, and there are some pretty bad ones. It's not something that has been done a whole lot, so every build is different. As much as the '97-01 CR-V is similar to the '96-00 Civic, basically the same platform, things don't just bolt up. A lot of fabrication and welding is involved. Just making the rear trailing arms is very tricky as well as mounting the rear diff. and what to do with the fuel tank. As with any build, the main goal SHOULD be safety. You don't want your vehicle coming apart while racing down the street. It's all very tricky and you need to know what you are getting into.
As far as the parts needed for this conversion, any '97-01 AWD CR-V will work. You are very lucky to have an AWD donor at your disposal. You will need:
Engine (at least the block)
Engine mounts
Transmission with transfer case
Transmission mounts
Shifter assembly and cables
Front axles
Driveline (shortened or a custom driveline built)
Rear diff
Rear diff mounts (or make your own rear diff mounts)
Rear axles (2 right side rear axles)
Rear trailing arms with bearings and hubs
There you go, a lot of the research done for you. Good luck with your build.

Wow, thanks alot man, extremely informative.
I'm going to go forward and do more research and get a better grasp of what kinda of s*** i maybe getting myself into. lol but again thanks for the quick and great response. At the least ill be swapping it to a b20 with hopes of doing a b20 vtec..maybe boost.maybe.
Thanks, axis

When I succeed with mine will let you know for a real deal.
Obviously you haven't researched at all, what you are trying to get involved in.
My project is about 1,5-2k usd for the missing pieces of the puzzle, apart of the crv stuff.
Haven't figured out the exact price as not all pieces are made yet.
Not intending to offend at all.
But you need more guts than a regular workshop. simply find a car builder expert to transform the rear of your car and make it work for add whatever 4wd system of choice. So better stay off if you don't know what you're dealing with.
Look in YouTube for:
project binky.
Good luck understanding while watching all episodes.
After you finish all episodes, and spend a year or so reading books about all Nick's tea spoon speeches
You will began to understand half of the picture.
See ya around.
