Default Autometer Pro-comp 2 tach install

Did a search, but found nothing for the wiring install for the extra GRAY wire on my Pro-comp 2 tach. I know where the red, black, white, and green wire go, but where do I hook up the gray wire? I looked in Autometer's website, and it says to connect the gray wire to a "normally open momentary switch". Can someone give me an example of a "normally open momentary switch" that I can hook the gray wire to. Thanks!

My best guess would be a button. Like the ones that come with alarm systems.

One touch buttons.......don't know though.

I'm still confused. Here's the instructions from Autometer's website.

http://www.autometer.com/hp/instruct...tions/444d.pdf

In the instructions, it says that you can hook up a "normally open momentary switch" on the tranny. So that when in 1st gear the shift point is on the low setting, and after 1st gear the shift point switches to the high setting. How in the hell do you hook the "switch" to the tranny? And what kind of "switch" would I need to purchase?

From Autometer - "The gray wire shows the tach a ground or not, which is what tells the tach to show what number shift point you are set for."

Can I hook the gray wire to something else besides the tranny? Helppp!!!

Right there in wiring.......the gray wire connects to a switch (one of those things you move up and down to turn stuff on and off......kinda like a light switch). Then make the other side go to a good ground.

So the switch you buy should have two connectors on the inside, you connect the gray wire to one and connect a new wire to the other which connects to a ground.

Not following how you missed that......

To further add.....this is used for two shift points.
When the switch is open (read off) you are in your low shift light activation setting.
When the switch is closed (read on) you are in your high shift light activation setting.

The tranny mount thing that you read probably because the word RACER (read, does not apply to you)was in there. Is that they use a different automatic switch that will change because of the need to shift earlier in 1st gear.
