Auto Meter Gausge Wiring
Hey guys I'm just trying to wire my atuo meter gauges to my dash lights on my 99 gsr. I looked at my fuse panel and located the fuse for the dash lights. But there is no way im gonna find those specific wires. My budy was telling me about a pigtail system for the big fuses were u just put the harness in where the fuse goes. Just wondering if any of u have come across this or if u have a better sugestion. THX
You can find an adapter in pretty much any parts store, and what it does is slip over one of the prongs of the fuse, and it has a female adapter on the end. Ive seen em in bullet style, and just a plain connector.
Another way to do it, the way i did mine is do a test on any wire that is only hot when the ignition is on, line the radio power wire, and splice into that. That way, youll get illumination when the ign, is on.

Yah i was thinking that but i only want the gauges to light up when the dash lights are on i.e. night time. Maybe i could tie into the dimmer switch.

You can grab illumination at the back of the dimmer switch, or any lighted device, including the parking lights. I believe the wire color is red w/ black.
If you are looking at your fuse box, there are 5 or so empty male terminals. One of them is a parking light signal. Use that.

Yeah that would work too. Just find the hot wire going to one of the parking lights and tap into that. Just test light anything you want to use to make sure its only hot with the ign on, and parking/headlights on.
