ARP Main Stud and Girdle question!!!! HELP!
Ok, So here's the story, I have a B18B motor, and I am going to stud it with ARP head studs and a new headgasket, I am going to use a Cometic Head gasket, as I have heard they are the best. SO here's my question, is it possible for me to buy ARP main studs and an Endyn Block girdle for my LS and jack up my car and take off the Main Bolts and caps, and just use the bearings and tighten them back up!? I am not sure if you HAVE to MIC new bearings in there, pretty much pull the motor, mic new bearing and while ur at it put in new piston rings. I jsut want to strengthen up my bottom end without having to pull the motor yet. I will pull it in the future and build it, but would this be possible if I just pull off the oil pan and put in Main Studs and tightened up a new block girdle and all on there with the same bearings, I don't think there is anything wrong with the bearings, as the motor runs pretty good, (not saying that is any indication of bearing wear or life.)
Well, LMK everyone's opinions. I would jsut like to know if it is possible without it destroying the motor, I know the right way to do it is to pull the motor and MIC new bearings and all, and if this would cause any problem more than jsut leaving it the way it is, I won't do it.
Thank Ahead!

Can you..sure. Should you .....of coarse not.
Why do you think you even need main studs and a girdle. As far as a head gasket the oem ones are great. The stock block and caps are good for well over 500hp.
That's my answer.

IDK the only reason I ask if for strength reasons. I am going to turbo my LS on 10PSI with head studs so I don't get any head lift with boost, I want it to be reliable and quick. I will take any measure I have to short of pulling the motor and building the bottom end. I jsut know th stock block record for LS is like 360 +- HP. Now don't get me wrong 300 HP in a 92 Civic hatch is plenty fast for me right now. So you think it will hold up fine with headstuds. So what gives on those bottom ends on turbo then!? Is it the rod bolts, rods or what!?
Where are this records kept (360hp).If you have stock rods and piston they will fail long before the main caps and bolts will.I was talking about the girdle and MAIN studs. The head studs are a good idea. You need to take some time and read this thread. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread/1323059
[QUOTE=$ISELLTOU4LESS$]Read that thread, very informative. Thanks again, so basically jsut stud it and cross my fingers huh!?[/QUOTE
In one breath you say you want it reliable. In the next breath you say you won't pull the engine and do things the right way.I'm not above a quick fix in a pinch, but in chassis rebuilds aren't the way to go for reliability.

No, I just meant by the standpoint fo the fact that if I do pull it, it is going to get FULLY BUILT, rods pistons block and all, and then jsut go LSVTEC from there, I don't want to pull it cause it is my Daily Driver thats all, but I can put ARP headstuds in it and make it strong, BUt that thread I saw people running on 150k miles with stock EVERYTHING, I will at least have a lower mileage engine with new HG and new head studs. But by the looks of it my car should handle 10 PSI very nicely until I want to upgrade for a lil more power. AlsoI think it would hold well at 12 PSI too, but we will see how 10 does. , but I REALLY appreciate that thread.
The first thing that fails is the pistons on a stock LS.If you stay out of detonation you should be fine. Before I even put head studs in I would spend the money on a ems and a tune.
Well, the Hondata S300 EMS will be on the same exact time the turbo goes on. It will Be EMS, Tune and Studs. I am not gonna play around with that, I am sure the stock head studs will work, I just don't trust them personally. and a new HG will be nice.
ANd I am correct in that I can use the stock Honda MAP sensor up to 11PSI correct!?
