aproximatly...how much is it to blueprint an engine??
it depends
on what? like how much would it cost for a full blueprint. full teardown and rebuild. and maybe a minor p&p job
I've never even been clear on what 'blueprinting' entails. I would assume a full rebuild to factory specs.. right?
Clarify.
It's something that takes skill and experience among other thiings. As such, the price tag could probably vary from a couple thousand to a few times that. That's why it's not an easy question to answer. You might as well ask "how much does a car cost?"
I suggest you call up a reputable engine shop and ask them. Even then it would probably take a lengthy discussion before you got a figure.

if you have a machine shop do it plan on spending somwhere between $1,000 -$3,000! blueprinting is a very time consuming project. It entails making sure all tolerances are correct, not just within manufactuar's spec, but that they are precisley where they should be to not create friction. basically all the rod bearing tolerances are exactly the same, all the mains, piston to cylinder wall clearance. Blueprinting can also include deburring oil passages, collant passages, block/maingirdle, (anything with burrrs/casting flash etc.) Balancing the rotating assembly. After it is done the machine shop will have gone through more bearings than what your engines uses do to finding the proper tolerance for each individual bearing, this will raise cost. Also the engine will be assembled numerous times to check piston to valve clearance and dial in cam timing. Very Expensive!!!
A word of worning if somebody tells you that they can blueprint your engine for a couple of hundred dollars tell them to **** off. It can't be done that cheap! hope this helps

Learn to read micrometers, calipers, and other ways of measurement and go at it yourself. Still.. it's hard... I can't do it, but I hope to learn.
