Apexi VAFC2...
So I had a friend install an Apexi VAFC2 for my d16Y8, he said he would connect it but not tune it, so he did so. I now just use it to set my vtec lo-hi and hi-lo lower. Someone told me thats not a good idea. Should I take it off or tune it? Im pretty much stock...all I have is a Short Ram K&N Intake, DC Sports Header, 2.5" Cat-Back System, 7lb. Lightweight Fidanza Flywheel, and a Stage 1 Exedy Racing Clutch. What do you guys suggest?
If you want to spend the money having it tuned (since I assume you don't have access to a dyno or wide-band O2), you will achieve some gains, though probably not enough to justify the cost.

Dude, whats paperweight? What do you guys recommend for extra power without going forced induced?

A good cam, perhaps some headwork, higher-compression pistons, etc.
At this point, extracting a decent amount of power out of your D-series without forced induction is not going to happen by simply bolting parts on.

It has more value than that.

Indeed, but people often like to exaggerate to try to make a point. While the V-AFC certainly isn't the best option for tuning, it nevertheless is effective when used properly.

Yeah, I like how you can see engine vacuum, and if you don't have a tach it will show you rpms if you want. I used on in my '87 Teg and decreased fuel in the lower load/rpm ranges to increase fuel mileage a bit.
If you can find one for cheap go for it. But if bought new, there are better tuning options.
