Apexi VAFC or Field's SFC Vtec/Fuel Controller
What can I do w/ the Apex'i that I can't do w/ the Field's? I'm asking because there's an $80 or so difference.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Field is much easier to use, and it also has a voltage limiter built in
so that you wont overincrease the map sensor signal voltage and cause
a check engine light. The apex does not have that.

The voltage limiter is a good feature, i wish my vafc had that. However, most people wont adjust it anywheres near the limit needed to trigger a code.
As for extra features, the vafc has the capability to display more than one readout on the screen at one time, such as revs and pressure. The vafc will also record maximum reached revs/throttle/etc. and has a basic graph style logger. I actually use mine to record revs while launching, which is helpful while practicing. I say vafc all the way

you're insane

No its called reading the instructions. You should never try to tune a device like the vafc without first reading the manual. People will buy more vafc's for the features that it does have over the fields.
heh.
every vafc i have seen to date has caused problems.
-10whp just by installing it. not bad

I have heard of some problems with the Field unit too, but never had any. And I have also heard of the VAFC having problems too, but never had any either.
I guess, go with what you like.
I'm no genius, and i didnt have a problem working my vafc.
I've never heard of an engine running poorly after an install, -unless- it was installed incorrectly. There are wires which need to be spliced at certain distances from each other into the harness. I'm not gonna go into it here, but its like that for a reason. These type of controllers simply intercept the rpm/map/tps signals and modify them as set. Its not a flaw of the unit, but of the install.

If you're getting one or the other, I would recommend the Apex. Not because I have any experience with it (cause I don't), but that the Field's VTEC-SFC is a P.O.S. I had it on my OBDII Civic and it ran OK for a while and then outta the blue would make my car run like **** and throw codes. The thing was properly installed. Eventually I sold it someone building an LS/VTEC and the thing crapped out on that guy too. It's your choice, Apex'i or a piece of ****.
