Default anyone wire vtec to activate using a shift light?

im prob putting a SOHC vtec in my crx and i dont wanna convert or get an msd activation switch so i was thinkin set my shift light to come on wherever vtec is supposed to activate on the d16z6 motor and wire the + wire of the solenoid to the shift light signal wire.. would that work?i dont see why not

Should work. Just make sure that you don't fry the shift light driver by hooking up a solenoid that pulls more power than the bulb.

what ecu will you be running? the rpm activated pill will activate vtec, but what are you going to do about the fuel map?

car is turboed so it should be feeding enough fuel already . it runs rich as it is

this is for a switch, but just run the 12v switched (terminal 86 on the bosch relay)from the shift light instead at whatever RPM you set it at

Just run the car correctly. You won't have the timing or fuel maps for VTEC.
