Default Anyone have a ideal

Heres the situtation, I have a 96 EX Civic i was driving about 80 in 4th gear and all of a sudden the car started acting like it was running a 3 cyclinders so i pulled over and shut the car off so i coul check and see if a plug wire or something had come off, nothing. So I try to restart the car and nothing now it wouldnt even turn over. I got the car home and it is locked down. I pulled the oil pump and the oil pan off and the whole oil pickup screen was full off big metal shavings(also in the oil pan). Then i look at the bottom of the rod caps and the #1 rod is like it has got really hot and has turned the color of the rod and the metal shavings looks to be what is left of the bearings. All the other rods look good and well oiled, but # 1looks like it has lost oiling and is shot. Does anyone know what could have caused this. No oil light came on or nothing. Just all of a sudden boom. Im stumped, I can rebuild, but i need to find out what caused it first.

sounds like a loss of oil pressure. perhaps the oil pump gave out?

at this point, your crank could be toast and you might need a new one. definately remove the block and have it hot tanked to remove all the little metal shavings that couldve circulated
