I was sitting in the drive thru at Mcdonalds on friday night and out of the blue my engine started to overheat. The temp. reached about a quater of an inch from the H on the gauge. I checked fans, relay and thermostat and they are A ok, so i'm leaning towards the fan switch. All i know is that the location of this switch should be around the same location of the knock sensor. Has anyone ever changed one or has a link that might be helpful? Please help!!!!!!!!!!

 

Another problem i notice is where to get the part? I went to Autozone and on the item number for the fan switch it has a note that say's "located next to thermostat housing". My is located in the back behine the block, will the one that Autozone sell's work for my or what's the dame deal????????

yes the fan swtich is located on the thermostat housing. there is a 2 pin connector/plug on it.

 

I have a jdm 1st gen. non-obd b16a and there's nothin' that looks anything like you described by the thermostat housing. I think your talkin' about a b16a1 the
2nd gen and higher engine's!!!!!!!!

 

Look on the head below the distributor.
