Tearing apart my H22A head. Need something other than long pliers to remove the valve stem seals. Is there a special tool that I can buy. Any other ideas?

Stem seal pliers.

I just use vice grips.

 

I bought the snap on tool. $40, but that's ok because I'm a baller.

needle nose pliers work well for me. You want to use just enough pressure to grip the body of the seal. If you grip them too hard, you'll defrom the seal and make it much harder to get off. Put a litte degreaser on a rag and wipe the oil off the seal too to give you a better a better grip.

 

is it possible to replace the seals while the head is still on the block for a b16a

 

I'm sure you can, it just gets a little tricky with the valve in the way.
