another way to do valve adjustment?
the usual method to do valve adjustment is to adjust it until you feel a slight drag. can we adjust it by just placing the feeler gauge in and tightening it and make sure the next larger size won't fit rather than having to feel the slight drag?
for example, if i want to adjust it to .006, i put the .006 feeler gauge in then tighten it so that .007 won't fit but .006 and below fits. can this be another method? coz sometimes when i'm using the conventional method, the next bigger size feeler gauge seems to go in as well and that means i did it wrong.

You should just invest in a valve adjustment tool. It really speeds up the process. Chance of mistakes and having to do it again are cut drastically too. Well worth it IMO. I think we picked ours up for $50-60 from the snap-on guy.
if i'm not mistaken the valve adjustment tool is just a way to loosen and tighten the lock not and a flat head incorporated in to adjust the tightness of the valves right?
i'm asking about other ways to adjust it with less time coz i find it hard to judge how slight the drag should be. so i was thinking if i can just stick the right size feeler gauge in and tighten it just right that the next size feeler gauge won't go in and call it a day.

If you tighten it up to the point where a .006" feeler can slide in but a .007" feeler won't, then I'd say you're mint...obviously your clearance is going to be less than .007" if you can't get the feeler to slide in.
However, you shouldn't tighten it so much that when trying to remove the .006" feeler you have to actually wiggle it out....you really should be able to pull/push it with just a slight amount of drag....well, thats what has worked for me on my past 6 valve adjustments.

hehe, i have been doing that forever...but if i want to tighten to .006 i put a .007 gauge in there and thighten it snugly, this prevents the clearance to change too much when torquing the nut.
after that pull the .007 out wich sould come out pretty thight and done
