Another No Spark Thread
I know there a million no spark threads, but every case is different so here is mine.
-Car died while driving. Coasted to a stop.
-Turns over but won't start.
-93 Del Sol, d16z6 all stock.
-Faint smell of burning plastic when I popped the hood.
-Tested for spark, none.
-Fuel pump primes.
-All fuses under dash are good.
-Car sat for 2 weeks before I had time to look at it and it started right up... Then died 30 seconds later.
-Bought a new coil, still no spark.
-I noticed a weird humming\buzzing noise coming from under the hood after cranking it over. The noise is not there if I just turn the key to the on position, it only happens after cranking it over a bit then leaving it in the on position. I can't really tell where it is coming from but it is pretty loud by the firewall\intake manifold.
-Also the distributor is an aftermarket one (8 months old), maybe something in it went bad, not sure. The new coil did not help.
Any Ideas to try would be great.

Though every car may have 'died' differently, there are only so many things it could be and the trouble shooting steps are the same. Many and all steps to check ignition are probably listed in the many threads or you can probably find it in the faq at the top. Its definately an article on team-integra.net. Used it myself. If you got a buzzing sound youre still gonna have to locate where its coming from and sort it out. Following wires and checking might be the only start.
how are the alt volts, bad alts usaully go in two different ways... slowly the volts drop or one day its fine and the next day its givin u crap. the buzz/hum could be ur starter solenoid, sometimes well at least its happened to me when they start to go bad it will buzz a little, the reason i say this cause it happens after u turn the key and crank it which actuates the solenoid but before u crank theres nothing cause u havent actuated it yet... take the alt and starter to autozone if theres one by u or any place that test them and have them test them both a few times like i said one day it could be working great and the next not so.... i always have them check a few times to see if theres any signs of weakness.. did a alt a couple months ago tested a good five or so times failed twice and passed a few times so i figured it was faulty put a new one on and no problems not sayin this will fix ur problem but its easy to eliminate that if its not the problem.....good luck
Thanks for the input guys, that team-integra link is awesome, I will use it to do more testing in\on the distributor. I'll check out the starter soleniod since the buzzing noise could be coming from there.
