I will be re-checking the spark this weekend. This car is really starting to **** me off. I've covered most of the basics already. I hate to find out its something simple.. it normally is too..

Back from the dead..

Well its been a while and I still cant get this car started. I double checked the grounds, spark, fuel, timing and compression.. I got everything but it just want start up.

My only question is if there is a sensor or switch that needs to have power in order for the motor to fire up on these automatics??

Is the ignition switch different from the manual or is it the same? Thats the last thing I'm gonna try out cause i'm really stumped on this issue..

Any other help or suggestions is appreciated.. thanks in advance..

Just because you have fuel at the rail and the plugs are wet doesn't mean you have fuel in the right proportion. First, if your plugs are fuel fouled they are going to have a hard time firing no matter what so either clean them with some brake clean (dry them thoroughly) or replace them. Second, try shooting a 2 second burst of carb clean into the intake and see if it tries to fire off. If it fires then dies, then you know you are not getting the right amount of fuel and can proceed from there. Carb clean is more volatile than gasoline and should be easier for the engine to fire off.

Did you also replace the cap and rotor when you swapped out the distributor? Don't bother with a fuel filter (although change it if it's old), they do not get intermittently or suddenly plugged.

I didnt change the cap or rotor because I just swapped the dizzy from another running car so It shouldnt make any difference. The plugs are new and after cranking the motor countless times I took them out and let them dry for a few days now. The only thing i'm gonna have to try is carb cleaner..
