what is the differences between aluminum and aluminzed piping. i need some conectors for my turbo and intercooler welded. will both of these work, or just aluminum, if so anyone know of anywhere that has good deals on the piping?

Aluminum tubing is made out of...aluminum.
aluminized tubing is made primeraly out of mild steel, and aluminized through a chemoelectrical process, similar to galvanzing, where a thin ply of aluminum is transfered by the means of electrolytics.

sorry, my chem knowledge is rusty, that is the best i can remember.

Aluminized means the pipe, usually steel, is coated with aluminum.

Anodizing can only be done to an aluminum part, it coats it with aluminum oxide.

I believe that the prior post about what "aluminizing" is, is incorrect.

As I understand it; aluminum wire is fed through a "chopper" gun that heats it and spits out the small pieces of aluminum. It bonds onto the metal (steel) due to the heat. I've had this done to headers and it's a great surface that will not rust. It also disipates heat real will. The surface is rough in texture and if not painted is a light silver cover.

One interesting problem is if you want to modify the part by welding! (as in installing an O2 bung) If you try going gas welding, the aluminum will spread the heat and the weld will tend to burn through. So, modify the headers prior to coating!!

One problem is that you can't coat the inside surface of a header.
