Alternator, capacitor or battery?
I've got a 97 Civic EX Coupe with a 1000-watt and a 500-watt amp with two 12" subs in the trunk. I've got a (I think it's called a Tiff) battery that is supposed to have a high output. I don't have a capacitor. My SRS light came on and stayed on, so I took it to the dealer to get them to fix it. They said that my audio system is sucking to much juice from the battery and I need either another battery or I need to get a capacitor. Some guys from an audio shop said that a capacitor would make it worse since the battery has to charge the capacitor, and that it really is the alternator cause they have a reputation of going out a lot in Hondas. So should I get a new alternator with higher output? Should I get a capacitor? Or should I get a better battery? If I should get the alternator, where and how much?

I would with that you need everything most likely. Alternator, battery, and cap. I would get a 150-200 amp alternator, Optima Yellow or Red top battery, and a 2F of capacitor to run all of that. Do a search on google and you should come up with something.

The person that had the car before me put all that stuff in it. The battery has been moved from behind the radiator to next to the fuse box. I looked at at yellow top battery, but they don't make any that would fit in my car. I thought about doing that, but wouldn't getting all three be going overboard?

Why do you have soo much damn power.....
yeah... a high output alt would do the trick...
the cap is good for quick power on demand... say you hit a 30 hz bass hit that lasted 30 ms that draws a bunch a current ...
you cap will help make sure that they power is there...
the alt will be your 1st thing... and a cap would be secondary
I just hope you can fit the alt in there.. the stock unit is pretty small
Maybe get rid of air-co and install a second alt and battery there!

Yeah- the battery came there-
Get rid of that ghetto blasting system- who needs that much wattage? You would need a few batteries and Caps and a higher output alternator for continuous jamming. All you need is a single 10" sub or two and a couple hundred watts at the most.
