alt. differences: b18a <-> D15b2
in the ongoing pursuit of cost savings... i'm curious if the voltage regulator/diodes, or whatever else is inside the alternator would possibly interchange between a D-series and B-series of the same model year (1990). i'm trying to avoid buying anything i don't really need.
story: my sister's 90 integra will start up and run if jumped but eventually cuts off. She put a new Honda battery in when she got it last summer.. my conclusion: bad alternator. i know i have at least one working-condition alternator from a D15B2 laying around. i checked and the part number for each is different, but i noticed that the mounting "ears" are spaced differently and i'm wondering if that is the only major difference.
any help in saving money is greatly appreciated.

may have answered my own question.
according to hondapartsunlimited.com the regulator assembly is the same but the rectifier is a different part number. i still can't say if that means it will or won't work, but i'll try the regulator and see what happens.
