Default all motor d16?

i was just wondering... thinking about building up an all motor d16.

i have a 97 ex block, d16y8, it needs new rods, rings, pistons, rod bearings.

i was thinking about just building it up, with say 12:5:1 comp. pistons, good set of rods, and whatever else needs to be done to the block, i'm not very inclined to building motors, probably gonna have a shop do it. Then for the head, new valves, springs, and retainers, and p/p.

This motor will be going into a 90 crx hf, and i'll be using a 91si tranny, and i'm gonna put quaife lsd, in it, and maybe alittle lower gearing. My question is how much whp, can you squeeze out of a d16, n/a setup, with street gas, 93?

I know this won't be cheap to do, and i also know, the price of it, i could just get a b16 or b18c, but i wanna do it to be different, and original.

Any thoughts?

the cheapest way to build what you have is:
D16 block
leave the stock rods just get them shotpeened
piston set of 88-9 integra P29/PM7 (ZC pistons) (should get you to 12.5-13:1 c/r)
for cams look into Crower + their valve train
some P&P
tranny wise find LSD equipped ZC (sohc (4.43 fd) or DOHC (3.88)) if you get the L3 DOHC ZC LSD tranny swap over the FD.
chipped ECU
I/H/E

@ best this will give you around 160-170whp with alot of tuning.

this is where I say you're better do a swap. I am pro d-series, but in this case all the add ons even at best price will be much higher then finding yourself a b16a + LSD tranny + mount kit + extras to give you much higher HPs.

read up the d-series board:
