Default Aligning Crankshaft before putting head on??

like the question said plus how do i do it without using the crank cover? i don't know where i put it(think someone threw it away). i heard i was suppose to have pistons 1 and 4 all the way up? is that correct? help...need car up and running this weekend!!

In or out of the car? Flywheel attached? Crank pully attached? What you got goin on in there?

I guess it's the lower timing belt cover that's missing.

You can use the oil pump marking to align the crankshaft to TDC, just make sure that the pistons #1 and #4 are at TDC. Then set the cam gears to TDC #1.

the whole block along with tranny is still in the car...just the head is out. i had to take the head off due to a blown ring and decided to upgrade the rods, pistons, rings, and most of the bolts while at it. now i can't find the lower timing belt cover. stupid me!!

take a thin rod (i used a socket extension) and put it down the cylinder and turn the crank till the #1 piston is at the top. then just align the cam gears to TDC and you are set! then just put the timing belt on in that position so its tight at the front and then tighten it and you are done!
