Just out of curious why do you need a "performance" starter. OEM should be just fine for just about any setup you could think of.

this is going on my allmotor drag car, if I could find a (new) denso starter,I think that would work, but every where I find them they are reman starters, I have already went through four starters this spring on my new engine, I used denso starters last year on my race car, that had around 150,000mi on them, and they worked fine, but this year our engines are a little bigger and more compression. the main problem is the benix clutch, is slipping, but the reman starters from the parts store, are just weak, they have problems even turning over the engine. I know that if I could find a new fresh denso that it would work, but I cant even find anyone who carrys new ones..Hell a reman from honda is over $250 so I know a new denso will be even more, thats why I am asking about a aftermarket starter..

Don't know if this would help you but check out autozone. They have two different starters available, non-reman'd. Both have core values but it just might be something to try.

I would just get the one from the dealer. A lot of the so-called re-man starters and alternators I get from the dealer are actually brand new pieces, rebadged as reman (if you can believe it) You can actually peel off the reman sticker, and the new sticker is still on there.

Probably the main reason why you have been going through starters is because you are using cheap rebuilts. Use Honda or BOSCH. Nothing else.

Really? I don't understand the point in doing that. Are you sure they don't take a bad starter, reman it then place a sticker over the original?

You have to see one. They look BRAND new, every piece, every nut/bolt/washer, NOTHING has been re-used. IF it is a rebuilt, the only thing they re-used was the part # of a starter/alternator.

Damn sounds interesting. I'll have to see one in person. As a honda/acura tech, do you know the standards that honda has for their reman'd goods? IE, what little pieces must be replaced...etc
