Default AFC isnt reading Map pressure. Help me!

Ok well. Upon realizing im a doof and had the map wire on the afc hooked up to the ECT. I put map and ect in their right places. (MAP is right next to ECT on my ECU 1997 d16y7). All the other sensors are working fine, so I know that my wiring diagram I used was good. And the right wires from the AFC are on each side of the map, and all secure connections. Prs on the afc from the map always reads -769 and when the car starts it doesnt change in the least all while my vac/boost gauge is reading around 15 vac. With the car on it runs rich as hell and sends black smoke everywhere and strong smell of gas, and has a hard time idling, also throws a CEL which I havent pulled yet but figure its MAP. Obviously the map isnt right somehow because the fuel corrections are not being made. What can I check? I'm really tryin to get this car for my birthday Saterday. And something so little is driving me crazy.
